  • A Commissioned Wood Project

A family from church asked for a solid wood driveway sign, and this is what I came up with. It was a great learning experience as I had never done wood burning before. I recently aquired a drum sander, and this was the first big project I used it for. It was a real time saver.

  • Helping The Wilkes Move

I was blessed to be part of the group which helped the Wilkes move out to their new home in Culpeper. In the big changes as well as little changes it is important to keep our perspective right. We should look at a change in our lives as another step in our journey of faith in which God is leading us.

  • Photography Boot Camp Report

Last week we were making the final preparations for our Photography Boot Camp. How would it go? I was praying to be a blessing and encouragement to the attendees. Then the second thoughts started coming. “Can I really do this?” “What if I make mistakes?” I think Satan was trying to appeal to my tendency to pride to undermine the work that the Lord was going to do. I remember similar thoughts and feelings when I was on the way to the first wedding that I would be THE photographer for. “What if…?”  I reassured myself that I was trusting in God, and I had prepared the best I knew how. I wanted to be a blessing to others and if that was my goal I couldn’t fail - even if some photos didn’t turn out right.

So, how did the Boot Camp go? Friday afternoon was jam-packed with technical instruction and discussions. We used a projector to show example photos and did some marker board illustrations for difficult concepts. Saturday we drove out to Sky Meadows Park for a field trip to practice the concepts that we had discussed the previous day. The Lord blessed us with BEAUTIFUL weather – not too hot, a slight breeze and blue skies. Returning to our house we each picked out some photos to have critiqued and put them up on the projector. We discussed each photo - what was good, and what could be improved upon.

The Lord blessed our time and made it surpass any expectations that I had. GOD IS GOOD.

  • Orienteering Photo

I was reviewing photos I took a couple days ago when I found this gem. The foreground frame nicely compliments the subject. I'm really starting to get into candid photography. Its so much fun!

  • Titanic Remebered - 98th Anniversery

98 years ago last Thursday is the day that the Titanic struck an iceberg, sinking the next day.

Remembering this event always reminds me that I should love sacrificially, and that I never know when I will die.

  • Tim's Wisdom Teeth Out

I just got my wisom teeth out. Please pray that I recover soon and without complications, so I can soon serve my family and fulfill my responsibilities to my best ability.

  • Scenes From NC FEW 2010

Friday and Saturday were days of encouragement for our family at a Family Encouragement Weekend conference down in North Carolina. There were many good talks and testimonies. One testimony that I felt spoke to me specifically was one on hospitality and serving. It seems easier to serve others in church functions or big groups, but when it comes to serving at home I often have a difficult time serving my family, or at least doing it cheerfully. Now I'm encouraged to serve my family more faithfully, and cheerfully.

  • A Memorable Evening

    Watch the slow falling snow,
Our car - we didn’t want to tow,
At Honey Brooke Court we stay,
    Though slippery was the way,
For Church was the next day,
And our hills might hold us at bay,

    Snowballs we did make,
    At each other we threw,
    Records we did break,
    Great speeds we knew,
    On sleds we climbed,
Then down, down the steep incline,

    Dinner we ate,
    Conversation to make,
    The time just flew,
    Toward midnight we drew,
    Still we talked,
    Finally, to bed we walked,

    Up the next day,
    In a singular way,
    Our minds we did gird,
    For to hear His WORD,
A search in our lives we make,
    Of His Communion to partake,
    Songs to sing,
    His praises we bring,

    From Above,
    We can love,
    Fellowship,
    Equip,
    Talk,
    Walk,

    In Harmony,
    IN HIM.

  • Best of Today's Photo Shoot

The Polorizing filter really made these pop.

Shot these with my 170-500mm. They are really cute little birds.
