    4th of July Fireworks

This is where we can compare notes on shooting fireworks. Here are a few of my shots that I took yesterday at the Burgs. While shooting the fireworks I switched focus on the lens to manual because I was afraid the lens would search and I'd lose some shots. Later when I looked at my shots I discovered that lots of them were out of focus! Oops! It turned out to be an interesting effect, but definitely not what I had planned on.

Too bad your pictures turned out blurry. I guess that is one thing I will have to look out for when shooting fireworks. However, I have been using that same technique of switching to Manuel for the past three years and have never had my pictures turn out blurry. I usually use Automatic focus on the first burst, turning it to Manuel after the camera has focused automatically, and then shoot the rest of the show on Manuel. Of course, I would have to refocus if I decided to zoom in or out after setting the focus the first time. In my opinion, continue to use this technique but make sure to double check your focus often. Happy shooting next year!

Yeah, I forgot to refocus when I zoomed. Embarrassed oops. I'll have to remember that for next time. Did you get any fireworks shots this year? I'd love to see some.
